background & therapeutic approach

I believe in the power of relationships.

I strive to build strong and trustworthy relationships with all of my clients, as that is where true change can occur within a therapeutic relationship.  I want to know how people think and what feelings those various thoughts bring up.

I want to get to know people as much as a person allows me into their lives.

On the flip side, I want to level the playing field and allow my clients to get to know me too.  Strong relationships are not a one-way street, so I encourage clients to ask me questions about myself.

I have been happily married since 2011 to my beautiful wife, Rebecca. Together, we have two kids, Thomas and Cora.

It has been a joy watching them grow up, (too fast, I might add!) but it has also brought a lot of challenges and personal growth too. I have learned how to be a better husband, man, and therapist since becoming a father. I still have a lot to learn, but I’m trying to improve every day.

My personal experience allows me to connect with both kids and parents alike in unique ways during our therapy sessions. It has been a journey and one that I hope to continue to build upon and share.

When I'm not conducting therapy sessions, I love being outside.

I was a wilderness backpacking guide in my younger years, so I have a natural affinity for hiking and camping. There is something to be said about hiking to a mountain top, looking out into the valley below, and contemplating.  It's one of my happy places.

Apart from my love of nature, I'm also a sports enthusiast! My top sports include soccer (known as football where my family comes from), golf, American football, and college basketball.  My teams are Chelsea FC (Go Blues!), the Oklahoma Sooners, and the Wake Forest Deacons.

I love watching movies as well, so I've had fun introducing my son to some of my favorites—including Star Wars, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy, or any Marvel movie.  I’d like to think that I’m a craftsman of sorts, as I enjoy woodworking projects where I've built desks, tables, shelves, and more.

Should you desire my help, I hope that this has given you a good insight into who I am. I aim to connect with all of my clients through developing a strong relational foundation within the therapeutic relationship.

I'd love to help you with any questions you may have, so please don't hesitate to reach out. I look forward to connecting with you.
